A groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday, Aug. 19, kicked off construction on a Burger King in Liberty Twp. that will be the first in the region to sport the fast food giant's new restaurant design. The region's first new concept Burger King is coming to Butler County.
Ground was broken Tuesday, Aug. 19, just off Yankee Road inside the Liberty Commons shopping center for a new location that will feature BK's new "rock design," said Becky Dunfee, vice president of operations for Fire Grill, a company that owns and operates 42 area BK locations in the region.
The new design includes an all-masonry exterior and a more modern interior, complete with hanging lighting fixtures, widescreen televisions and easily cleanable, ceiling-to-floor ceramic tiles.
"It's a fresh, clean environment for the consumers to be in," Dunfee said. "We're very excited."
White drop-down ceiling panel "clouds" will provide an aesthetically pleasing noise minimizer, Dunfee said. The new design also means state-of-the-art food preparation equipment and improved kitchen layout to enhance product quality and boost the speed of service.
Construction on the new location should start next week and end 68 days later in early November, said Fire Grill CEO David Devoy.
The restaurant will be the first new Burger King to be built in the region since 2002, Dunfee said. Nationwide, the fast food giant has opened 156 locations that feature the new design in the past 18 months. Six of those locations are in Ohio, two of which opened in Columbus this June.
