People attending the annual Fairfield Chamber of Commerce Business showcase on Wednesday, Oct. 8, can shop more than 100 businesses pressure-free, and many will get free prizes out of it.
"We don't sell anybody that day," said Fairfield Chamber President Kert Radel.
The day starts with a paid luncheon, which is sold out, at 11:30 a.m. at Receptions Banquet and Conference Center, 5975 Boymel Drive. The showcase begins at
1:30 p.m. with the annual Taste of Fairfield starting at 4 p.m. The Taste and the showcase are both free and end at 6 p.m.
Radel said he believes the show this year — his first as president of the chamber — will be "an exceptionally good show" because of the number of returning and new businesses, as well as the variety of businesses.
"It's not just one or two or three business categories, we have a great variance," Radel said.
The event is billed as the largest business showcase in Butler County with more than 3,000 attendees expected to attend.
Actress/singer Shelley Fabares to be the marquee speaker at the luncheon.
"Since it's TV Land, wouldn't it be cool to get somebody who was widely known from the real hayday of TV," said Mercy Hospital Fairfield spokesman Greg Ossmann.
Fabares was the leading lady in three Elvis Presley films — "Girl Happy," "Spinout" and "Clambake." She also starred in TV shows "The Donna Reed Show" and "Coach," and recorded the 1962 hit "Johnny Angel."
